Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a Geomechanical Engineer to provide oversight of slope stability and rock mechanics for hard rock mining operations. You will coordinate with outside consultants, review data, and support mine design and planning in a hybrid Tucson, AZ environment.

The role emphasizes communication, safety, and the application of MS Office and AutoCAD in geotechnical analyses. Travel and flexible schedules may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in mine/geotechnical engineering and several years of hard rock mining experience.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics and slope stability principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide geomechanical project oversight and review with outside consultants and mine planning teams.
• Review slope stability data collection, analysis, and remedial work; interpret rock strength data and geologic structures.
• Communicate accurate slope stability information to mine and site personnel and inspect pit walls and stockpiles.
