Job summary

The Department of Geology at William & Mary invites applications for a four-year, non-tenure track Associate Teaching Professor to begin August 10, 2027. This position emphasizes teaching excellence in introductory geology courses and the ability to teach both lecture and lab sections.

Responsibilities include offering undergraduate courses in the candidate's area, contributing to curriculum development, and possibly leading the Regional Field Geology course (GEOL 310).

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in Geology, Earth and Environmental Science, or related field.
• 18 graduate credit hours in Geology, Earth and Environmental Science, or related field.
• Ability to teach Introductory Geology and other lecture, lab, and seminar-style courses in the applicant's area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory geology courses in both lecture and lab formats.
• Offer undergraduate courses in the applicant's area and contribute to the geology curriculum and general education requirements.
• Possibly contribute to Regional Field Geology (GEOL 310) and field-based activities.
• Maintain curricula current with advances in the discipline and participate in curriculum improvement.
• Demonstrate effective teaching and mentoring practices.
