Job summary

William & Mary’s Department of Geology invites applications for a 4-year, non-tenure track Associate Teaching Professor to begin August 10, 2027. The position focuses on teaching introductory geology, both lecture and lab, with opportunities to offer courses in the applicant’s area and contribute to the Regional Field Geology course.

There is no required research program. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator, dedicated to keeping curricula current and advancing teaching

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geology or a related field.
• 18 graduate credit hours in Geology or a related field.
• Ability to teach introductory geology and other lecture, lab, and seminar-style courses.
• Ph.D. in Geology, Earth and Environmental Science, or related field preferred or ABD at start (Aug 10, 2027).

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory geology courses (lecture and lab) and other courses in your area of expertise.
• Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing improvement of introductory geology education.
• Potential involvement in the Regional Field Geology (GEOL 310) and related field activities.
