Job summary

Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty to provide high-quality instruction and student support in alignment with the District's mission of advancing equity and student success. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Part-time instructors deliver engaging, inclusive instruction, maintain course materials and records, and communicate regularly with students

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography or paleontology or the equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in geology and a Master’s degree in geography, physics, or geochemistry.
• Equivalent qualification may apply with documented experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for diverse students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District’s learning management system and other instructional technologies.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in department meetings and professional development as appropriate.

Education

Master’s degree in geology, geophysics, earthsciences, meteorology, oceanography or paleontology

Bachelor’s degree in geology AND a Master’s degree in geography, physics, or geochemistry
