Job summary

University of Texas at Austin at Pickle Research Campus seeks a Research Scientist Associate III to assist in mineral resource assessment, GIS mapping, and geologic mapping projects. The role supports the Mineral Resource Program with GIS, satellite imagery, and database development, contributing to geologic maps and reports.

The position is fixed-term through December 31, 2027, located at the Pickle Research Campus in North Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• MS in Geology or related discipline with at least 2 years related experience or BS in Geology or related discipline with at least 4 years related experience.
• GIS skills; familiarity with mineral resources; geologic mapping experience.
• Knowledge of Texas geology and satellite imagery analysis used in geologic mapping and mineral resource assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mineral resource assessment, characterization and mapping efforts (50%).
• Assist with Mineral Resource Program tasks using GIS, satellite imagery and database development (25%).
• Draft and produce geologic maps, reports, and data for mineral resource projects (25%).
