Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Technical Staff Assistant IV to join the Bureau of Economic Geology at the Pickle Research Campus in North Austin. This is a temporary, hourly role with a 40-hour work week, requiring travel within Texas and an immediate start date.

You will support configuration, maintenance and deployment of seismic stations, including site scouting and field setup. Strong electronics troubleshooting and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with four years of electronic troubleshooting, assembly and configuration.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and maintain seismic stations and scout new deployment sites.
  • Erect solar panels, deploy power systems and instruments in electronics cabinets and sensors.
  • Repair failed equipment and document field activities and instruments replaced.
  • Monitor supplies inventory and place orders as needed.
  • Prepare instruments and equipment for deployment and field trips.
