Placements24 is seeking a Geologist specializing in Mineral Resource Estimation to join our client’s team on a hybrid schedule out of Soweto. You will define deposit size, grade, and confidence, informing mine planning and investment decisions, while collaborating with exploration, planning, and operations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences, at least five years in mineral exploration, and proficiency with Leapfrog, Micromine, Vulcan, or GEMS.

This role is integral to accurately defining the size, grade, and confidence level of mineral deposits, which directly informs mine planning and investment decisions. You will work closely with exploration, mine planning, and operational teams, utilizing advanced geological modeling software to interpret geological data and produce robust resource estimates. Your expertise will play a crucial role in unlocking the value of the company's extensive mineral assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and interpret geological data from drilling, sampling, and historical records.
• Construct geological models and block models incorporating lithology, mineralization, and structural controls.
• Perform statistical analysis and apply appropriate geostatistical techniques for resource estimation.
• Prepare detailed Mineral Resource reports in accordance with industry standards (e.g., JORC, SAMREC).
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to integrate resource estimates into mine designs.
• Maintain accurate geological databases and ensure data integrity throughout the estimation process.
