Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Geologist specializing in Mineral Resource Estimation to join our client’s team on a hybrid schedule out of Soweto. You will define deposit size, grade, and confidence, informing mine planning and investment decisions, while collaborating with exploration, planning, and operations.
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences, at least five years in mineral exploration, and proficiency with Leapfrog, Micromine, Vulcan, or GEMS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Minimum 5 years in mineral exploration and resource estimation.
- Proficiency with geological modeling software and geostatistics.
- Experience with data management and quality control protocols.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and interpret geological data from drilling and samples.
- Construct geological and block models incorporating lithology and mineralization.
- Apply geostatistical techniques for resource estimation.
- Prepare Mineral Resource reports per industry standards (JORC/SAMREC).
- Collaborate with mine planning engineers to integrate estimates.
- Maintain geological databases and ensure data integrity.
