Job summary

Western Rock Products, a CRH Company, seeks a Geologist/Mining Engineer to plan long-term reserves and support quarry operations in Central and Southern Utah. The role may be based in St. George, UT, with travel to multiple sites for planning and optimization.

The position requires a geology or mining engineering degree and 5+ years of mining experience, with strong skills in geologic modeling, GPS surveying, and strategic planning. Travel approx. 25% with periodic increases is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Mine Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience as a Geologist or Mine Engineer at an active mine site or developing quality aggregate reserves is required.
• Working knowledge in assessing LOM resource and reserves, pit designs, development of 5-year block models for quarry mining to include effective water drainage control and overburden removal.
• Knowledge of industrial geology as related to the construction industry.
• Surveying knowledge and/or experience with GPS station gear.
• Ability to think strategically and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Identify, secure, and develop high quality aggregate reserves for hot mix asphalt, ready mix concrete, and construction operations.
• Build effective working relationships with agencies, geologists, mining engineers and companies to secure rights to aggregates.
• Assist with geologic modeling, drilling and exploration, reserves assessment, and mine planning.
• Liaise with agencies and industry groups; represent the company on committees and boards.
• Develop long-term LOM plans to maximize value and optimize resources.
• Create 5-year block model maps and geotechnical surveys to identify hazards.
