Qualifications

  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent geologic research focused on subsurface energy resources, basin analysis, geophysics, petrophysics, stratigraphy, structural geology, and related topics.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret geological, geophysical, and petrophysical datasets to create maps, cross sections, and regional subsurface characterizations.
  • Conduct field investigations, collect geological samples, and apply established data collection and safety standards.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed outlets and present findings at professional conferences and meetings.
  • Manage research projects, including project planning, budgeting, reporting, database maintenance, and coordination with collaborators and sponsors.
  • Develop new research opportunities through stakeholder engagement, networking, proposal development, and pursuit of external funding.
  • Supervise research staff, assign work, monitor progress, and provide mentoring and professional development support.
  • Collaborate with KGS colleagues, external partners, state agencies, landowners, and stakeholders to support successful project outcomes and public engagement efforts.
