Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a Geologist II in Franklin County to review landfill permits and provide technical oversight of groundwater impacts related to solid and special waste facilities.

The role includes field investigations, preparing site-specific environmental permits, and supporting regulatory compliance for state and federal agencies. Telecommuting up to 2 days weekly is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology, earth system science, earth and environmental sciences, or related field.
• One year of geological experience.
• Graduate study in geology may substitute for experience; registration as Professional Geologist may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Perform geological review of landfill permit applications to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Assist in compiling site-specific environmental permits.
• Assist in conducting field investigations of waste facilities regulated by DWM.
• Provide technical assistance to department staff, owners, operators, public, consultants, and agencies.
