The Southeast Regional Office staff support 73 parks across nine states and two territories. The region includes four million acres of protected land and 49% of the coastline in the national park system.
BA/BS Degree in Geology or related fields with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s) in studying or managing physical coastal resources
The position centers on geology and coastal processes in direct support of park management. The enrollee must understand how these physical processes influence the management, protection, adaptation, and mitigation of natural, cultural, and historic resources as well as park facilities, infrastructure, visitor experience, and safety. The enrollee will provide technical reviews for park planning efforts involving sediment placement and other geologic resources; offer expert guidance to inform decisions related to sediment management and coastal processes; and deliver thorough evaluations of technical reports and plans from both internal and external sources. The position requires interpreting, applying, and clearly communicating technical information to support informed management decisions.
