Qualifications

  • Must be 55+ years old.
  • Minimum of 20 years of Federal Cultural Resources Compliance experience, OR MA/MS in Archaeology with at least 15 years Federal experience.
  • Experience applying the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide authoritative recommendations on NHPA/CRM compliance related to graves, seawalls, historic structures, debris removal and trails.
  • Assist with Programmatic Agreements with SHPO and prepare correspondence.
  • Review NEPA analyses and culture resource reports prepared by third parties or NPS contractors.
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop and review minimum requirement analysis framework for Wilderness projects.

Job description

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Duration:

This position is funded for up to 480 total hours.

Duties:

Enrollee will support Cumberland Island National Seashore compliance activities related to archaeological, historical, and traditional cultural properties. Provide authoritative recommendations on structuring and managing NHPA/CRM compliance work to include: graveyards, seawalls, historic structures, debris removal, trails, etc with particular regard to scopes of work and planning, environment & public comment documents. Assist with the development of Programmatic Agreements with SHPO to define historic preservation, stabilization, and general management and prepare correspondence with State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO). Review of NEPA analysis and other cultural resource related reports prepared by third parties, including NPS contractors. Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Develop and review minimum requirement analysis framework for Wilderness projects.

Qualifications:
  • Must be 55+
  • Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Federal Cultural Resources Compliance OR MA/MS Degree in Archeology with minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in Federal Cultural Resources Compliance
  • Project management, historical architecture, experience with Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
