Job summary

Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation, a US-based gold and silver mining company, seeks a Mine Geologist to support production and exploration. You will assist with core and RC logging, geologic mapping, interpretation, near-mine reconnaissance, sampling, and ore control, working with mine operations and engineering teams.

Responsibilities include daily drill checks, RC/Core logging, QA/QC review of assay results, data analysis for mine models, soil/rock sampling, and using Vulcan/Leapfrog software

Qualifications

• 1+ years in an open pit hard rock mining or exploration environment preferred.
• University degree in Geosciences or Geological engineering with field camp
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with stakeholders to achieve mine goals.

Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation is a US-based gold and silver mining company, which operates its wholly owned Hycroft open pit, gold, and silver mine located an hour southwest of Winnemucca, Nevada.

Job Description

The mine geologist assists with all aspects of production and exploration as needed, including but not limited to core and RC logging, geologic mapping, geologic interpretation, near-mine reconnaissance, sampling, and ore control.

Responsibilities

• Check drills daily, reporting out progress and observations
• Log RC/Core as required, collect geology and Geotech information
• Review assay results from the drill and sampling programs, review QA/QC, provide updates on lab performance, sample failures, generate monthly reports
• Conducting in-pit mapping and data analysis for both mine modeling and geotechnical evaluation
• Conducting soil or rock sampling programs
• Use mine modeling software; (Vulcan and Leapfrog) to assist logging, drill planning, and model updates. Collect data with handheld XRF, magsus tools
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in an open pit hard rock mining or exploration environment preferred. University degree in Geosciences or Geological engineering with field camp

• Able to work outside in all weather conditions
• Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with stakeholders (Mine Ops., Survey, Engineering, and other departments) to achieve overall mine goals.
