Job summary

Merck in North Wales, PA seeks an Associate Director, Geography Lead to oversee day‑to‑day data‑management operations across the assigned geography. You will ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance while supporting regional strategy and staff development.

Lead local teams, align with GDMS standards, manage workload and performance metrics, and partner with HR and cross‑functional leaders to promote standardized, risk‑based practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Management or related field; 8+ years in organizational management in Biopharma or related industry with 2+ years of people management ORAdvanced degree with 4+ years in organizational management with 2+ years of people management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day data-management execution within the geography, ensuring efficiency, quality, compliance, and inspection readiness.
• Review and input on work performed by direct reports.
• Manage and develop local teams, align performance to GDMS standards, guide onboarding and skill-building.
• Partner with Portfolio & Resource Operations for workload tracking and metrics; support near-term forecasting and workload balance.
• Ensure adherence to GDMS/GCTO processes and local regulatory requirements; drive consistent execution.
• Identify and escalate operational or compliance risks; support mitigation actions.
• Share lessons learned and promote change initiatives.
• Lead recruiting and hiring and oversee performance management including sensitive employee-relations matters with HR.
• Coordinate on-shore/off-shore resources and budget management.
