Job summary

Cherokee Federal seeks a Geographic Information Systems Technician to support installation planning at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. The role focuses on managing GeoBase data, ensuring SDSFIE compliance, and leading AMP mapping initiatives on-site, with CAC and DoD clearance requirements.

Responsibilities include producing various maps, performing QA/QC across SMS data sources, and delivering on-demand spatial analysis for installation stakeholders.

Qualifications

• CAC required and ability to pass DoD clearance.
• Prolonged desk work and computer-based tasks.
• Pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain installation GeoBase data, including the planning data model, feature datasets, and data layers.
• Ensure GeoBase data complies with SDSFIE requirements.
• Lead development and annual updates of AMP and Sub-AMP mapping products.
• Produce linear-segmentation maps, utility and transportation-network maps, facility-condition maps, and asset-inventory maps.
• Perform QA/QC and resolve discrepancies among GIS, BUILDER, PAVER, NexGen IT, and other SMS data sources.
• Prepare quarterly GeoBase validation reports and monthly SMS/GIS reconciliation reports.
• Provide on-demand spatial analysis, custom maps, and planning support for CES, R&O, and other installation stakeholders.
• Develop constraint maps and Comprehensive Planning Platform data layers for installation-planning efforts.

Job description

This position is onsite at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam), requires a CAC, and a favorable Tier 1/NACI-SF85 background investigation.

Leads complex GIS, GeoBase, mapping, spatial-analysis, and system-integration activities supporting installation planning, infrastructure asset management, and Activity Management Plans.

Basic Qualifications

• Performs other duties as may be assigned.
• This position requires a Common Access Card (CAC), the ability to pass the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) clearance to acquire a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; may occasionally require standing or moving about the office for extended periods.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced experience with Esri ArcGIS platforms, GeoBase, SDSFIE, spatial databases, and geospatial data governance.
• Experience integrating GIS with BUILDER, PAVER, NexGen IT, and other facility asset-management systems.
• GIS Professional certification or equivalent technical credential.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Minimum five years of GIS experience.
• Minimum three years of military GIS experience.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled environment.
