Job summary

Helix is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician I in San Diego, CA to perform pre-analytical and analytical workflows for Whole Exome, Whole Genome, and Proteomics assays in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited lab. This production role is supervised to build foundational skills in precision medicine.

You will have a Bachelor's in lab science, hands-on lab experience, and comfort with molecular biology concepts, with first or second shift options and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• Hands-on lab experience from industry, internship, or coursework.
• Working knowledge of molecular biology concepts and common lab techniques.
• High attention to detail in a regulated environment.
• Clear communicator who surfaces issues with enough context for leadership.
• Adaptable and tech-forward with eagerness to learn and work with new technologies, such as AI tools and automated platforms.
• Available Tuesday-Saturday on first shift (7am-3:30pm) or second shift (2pm-10:30pm).

Responsibilities

• Execute pre-analytical and analytical workflows following established SOPs.
• Maintain accurate, complete documentation in required systems and logs.
• Recognize and upscale deviations with detail for quick resolution.
• Support QC activities to uphold CLIA and CAP certifications.
• Coordinate with team on shift handoffs and throughput.
• Share observations to drive process improvements.
