Job summary

Chenega Services and Federal Solutions, LLC. is seeking a Genomics Laboratory Manager to oversee the logistical, operational, safety, and technical readiness of the Center for Genome Sciences laboratories.

The role guides daily genomic, biosurveillance, and systems biology operations, supports NGS workflows, maintains regulatory compliance, trains personnel, coordinates equipment and supply chains, and supports investigators in sequencing protocols for DoD biosurveillance missions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or related field.
• At least 10 years of direct biological research laboratory management experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing a biological research laboratory and laboratory personnel, consistent with Scientist 3 category.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing workflows and genomic laboratory operations.
• Experience operating in BSL-2 environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain BPRP enrollment and comply with biosafety/biosecurity requirements.
• Willingness to travel CONUS/OCONUS 1–2 times per year.
• Background and drug screening clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of genomic, biosurveillance, and systems biology laboratories for multi-omics and NGS research.
• Perform and support NGS workflows on Illumina and Oxford Nanopore platforms.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction, QC, and library prep using standard instruments.
• Operate and support automated liquid handling and sample-processing equipment.
• Serve as primary contact for daily lab operations and ensure mission readiness.
• Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repair of genomic equipment with vendors.
• Forecast, order, and track consumables and inventory in approved systems.
• Ensure DoD, CDC, and institutional compliance and documentation.
• Train new personnel on safety, equipment use, and SOP compliance.
• Conduct lab inspections and support decontamination and waste management.
• Provide monthly status reports on operations and procurement.
