Job summary

The Satija Lab at the New York Genome Center is seeking a highly organized Lab Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, procurement, safety, and onboarding. This role ensures smooth functioning across team activities while working with mammalian and invertebrate models and next-generation sequencing technologies.

The successful candidate will manage reagents, inventory, budgets, and documentation, coordinate equipment maintenance, and train others.

Qualifications

• B.Sc or M.Sc in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or related fields.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Experience with lab inventory management, vendor relations, and procurement.
• Familiarity with the Illumina sequencing platform preferred.
• Familiarity with flow cytometry techniques preferred.
• Ability and experience to work independently, and to train others in laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day lab operations, ensuring an organized, well-maintained, and efficient working environment.
• Manage ordering and inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment, and maintain relationships with vendors.
• Track and manage lab budgets for supplies, equipment, and service contracts in coordination with the PI and NYGC administration.
• Maintain and organize lab databases, shared drives, and documentation including protocols, SOPs, and regulatory records.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and service contracts; troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with core facilities.
