Descrizione del lavoro

Vylor Inc. in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Genomics Data Analyst to deliver sequence-based data advancing trait development. You will evaluate NGS data, confirm DNA construct identity, and characterize gene edits in plants.

You’ll collaborate across molecular biology, bioinformatics, and regulatory teams to ensure data quality, documentation, and timely delivery. The role offers opportunities to develop new tools, automate analyses, and improve processes within a fast-paced pipeline.

Competenze

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology, plant science, biotechnology, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years’ experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of DNA sequencing technologies, molecular biology fundamentals (e.g., PCR, plasmid/vector design), and plant transformation and gene editing methodologies (e.g., CRISPR-Cas).
  • Hands‑on experience analyzing sequence data, including aligning reads to reference sequences, identifying variants and indels, and interpreting sequence alignments.
  • Experience with molecular characterization of gene‑edited or transgenic events in crops.
  • Proficiency with sequence analysis and visualization software (e.g., Geneious, Crispresso, or similar).
  • Experience working in a high‑throughput genotyping or sequencing environment.
  • Experience with targeted sequencing approaches (e.g., amplicon sequencing, hybridization capture/enrichment) and with both short‑read and long‑read sequencing data.
  • Proven ability to pay attention to detail, recognize data patterns, identify anomalies, and draw sound, evidence‑based conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical results to diverse audiences.
  • Strong ability to organize, plan, and prioritize concurrent activities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function both independently and as a respectful, collaborative team member.
  • Proven ability to improve processes and innovate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; experience with information management systems (e.g., LIMS) is a plus.
  • Experience working under quality or data integrity standards (e.g., GLP, ISO).

Mansioni

  • Analyze sequencing data to deliver accurate data products for gene editing and transgenic projects.
  • Perform sequence verification of DNA constructs before plant transformation.
  • Characterize gene edits (insertions/deletions/substitutions) and determine allele composition and zygosity.
  • Characterize transgene insertions including copy number and flanking junctions.
  • Apply QC criteria to assess data quality and flag anomalies.
  • Ensure prerequisite steps are completed before sequencing lab delivery.
  • Document analyses and maintain traceable records.
  • Provide clear summaries and reports to project leaders and teams.
  • Offer troubleshooting and root cause analysis within the team.
  • Participate in new technology development and automation.
  • Manage multiple projects to meet deadlines in a high-throughput setting.
  • Follow safety policies and ensure a safe workplace.
