Bayer CropScience is seeking a Genomics Co-Op/Intern in Missouri to support long-read sequencing workflows and haplotype discovery in diverse germplasm. You will combine PacBio HiFi data and bioinformatics to identify genetic variation beyond SNPs and help translate findings into breeding strategies.

You will work at the interface of computational biology, genomics, and plant breeding, developing scalable pipelines, characterizing novel haplotypes, and collaborating with teams across disciplines

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Genetics, Plant Science or related field.
• Experience with long-read sequencing analysis (PacBio, ONT, etc).
• Experience with variant calling (SNPs, indels, SV, CNV).
• Knowledge of command-line interfaces for bioinformatic tools.
• Python and/or R experience.
• Knowledge of population genetics, haplotypes, and genomic diversity.

Responsabilités

• Support the development and application of long-read sequencing workflows for novel haplotype discovery in diverse germplasm.
• Leverage PacBio HiFi sequencing and advanced bioinformatics approaches to identify genetic variation beyond SNPs, including SVs and CNVs.
• Work at the interface of computational biology, genomics, and plant breeding to develop scalable analytical pipelines.
• Characterize novel haplotypes in diverse germplasm.
• Evaluate strategies for incorporating genetic variation into breeding applications.
