Job summary

The Shannon Potato Genomics and Breeding Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a genomic breeding postdoctoral researcher to analyze genomic, phenomic, agronomic, and environmental data for the breeding program.

Initial focus on QTL analysis for microbiome traits related to Verticillium wilt and building/updating genomic selection models, with opportunities to develop new projects and collaborate with regional programs.

Qualifications

• PhD in plant breeding, genetics or a related discipline.
• Large-scale data analysis experience is required.
• Publication record in plant breeding or quantitative genetics is expected.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of breeding program data at diploid and tetraploid levels.
• Prepare first-author manuscripts and contribute to others’ manuscripts.
• Participate in field and greenhouse work including plant care and harvests.
• Mentor students and researchers in data analysis and meetings.
