Job summary

ATCC in Gaithersburg, MD seeks a Senior Manager, Genome Portal Engineering to lead modernization and development of the Genome Portal and related digital biology platforms. The role provides technical leadership for a cloud-based platform delivering genomic data products to scientists and researchers.

You will oversee architecture, engineering execution, UX, and collaboration with product, IT, cybersecurity, and external partners to deliver secure and scalable applications.

Qualifications

• Experience leading professional-level engineering teams with responsibility for execution and objectives.
• Track record building scalable, secure software platforms including APIs and data integration.
• Experience leading design, development, and support of cloud-based software or data platforms.
• Preferred: genomic data platforms, bioinformatics, or science-focused apps.

Responsibilities

• Platform Development and Modernization: lead Genome Portal and related platforms for usability and scalability.
• Engineering Leadership: oversee sprint planning, direction, reviews, releases, and best practices.
• Architecture and Integration: guide backend services, APIs, data layers, and enterprise integrations.
• User Experience: drive user-centered applications and reusable UI components for scientists and researchers.
• Team & Partner Management: coordinate external partners and engage with product, IT, cybersecurity, and stakeholders.
• Platform Reliability & Risk Management: ensure performance, security, and total cost of ownership.
