This onsite, full‑time program runs January–August or May/June–December, with hourly pay ranging from $17.90 to $50.90 depending on education level. You will contribute to a proprietary gene‑editing platform for in vitro and in vivo use, screen variants, and apply structure‑prediction tools while learning from scientists

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree and returning to school the semester following the position or graduating after the position.
• Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week from January–August, May/June–December, or August–December.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of a proprietary gene‑editing platform for in vitro and in vivo use.
• Screen engineered protein variants using a fluorescence‑based reporter assay to identify enhanced versions that retain function.
• Apply computational structure‑prediction tools to help design engineered protein variants.
• Evaluate a modified, DNA‑nicking version of Cas9 to assess reduced genomic effects while preserving editing efficiency.
• Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning and subcloning, and western blotting.
• Perform mammalian cell culture techniques, including sterile technique, passaging, and transfection or electroporation.
• Work with viral vectors and flow cytometry methods.
• Document experimental procedures and results using Excel and Prism, and collaborate with scientists across the VelociGene team
