Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree and returning to school the semester following the position or graduating after the position.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week from January–August, May/June–December, or August–December.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a proprietary gene‑editing platform for in vitro and in vivo use.
  • Screen engineered protein variants using a fluorescence‑based reporter assay to identify enhanced versions that retain function.
  • Apply computational structure‑prediction tools to help design engineered protein variants.
  • Evaluate a modified, DNA‑nicking version of Cas9 to assess reduced genomic effects while preserving editing efficiency.
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning and subcloning, and western blotting.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture techniques, including sterile technique, passaging, and transfection or electroporation.
  • Work with viral vectors and flow cytometry methods.
  • Document experimental procedures and results using Excel and Prism, and collaborate with scientists across the VelociGene team

Regeneron is currently seeking a 2027 Co‑op in Genome Engineering & Transgenic Model Development to join our VelociGene team, which develops next-generation gene-editing tools to improve the precision and safety of genome engineering for cell lines, mouse models, and future therapeutics. These positions offer the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, science-driven organization making a meaningful difference to patients worldwide.

When & where: Location: Tarrytown, NY Timeframe: Our Co‑op positions are full‑time and onsite from January‑August (Spring‑Summer), May/June‑December (Summer‑Fall), and August‑December (Fall).

Pay: Intern and Co‑op pay ranges are determined by level of education (year in school) and degree program. The hourly rate range for these locations is: $17.90-$50.90 per hour.

What you’ll do:
  • Contribute to the development of a proprietary gene‑editing enhancement platform designed for both in vitro and in vivo use
  • Screen engineered protein variants using a fluorescence‑based reporter assay to identify compact, enhanced versions that retain function
  • Apply computational structure‑prediction tools to help design engineered protein variants
  • Evaluate a modified, DNA‑nicking version of Cas9 to assess whether it reduces unwanted genomic effects while preserving editing efficiency
