Job summary

HHMI’s Casanova Lab, in collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center, seeks a Research Technician II to support genetic studies of infectious diseases. You will perform PCR, cloning, and CRISPR-based editing, contributing to high-throughput screens and data analysis in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role requires a life sciences degree with hands-on wet-lab experience and a willingness to learn from senior researchers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of research experience in academia or industry.
• Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant research experience preferred.
• Hands-on molecular biology techniques: PCR and cloning are required.
• Experience or familiarity with CRISPR-based genome editing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support senior lab members in wet lab experiments related to infectious diseases genetics.
• Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR and cloning as part of ongoing projects.
• Apply CRISPR-based genome editing approaches as needed (knockout, HDR knock-in, base editing, prime editing).
• Assist with library design, cloning for high-throughput screening, and NGS preparation.
