Job summary

Stanford Health Care in Oakland is hiring a Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) to support genetic counselors and the care team. This on-site, full-time role involves coordinating appointments, preparing patient materials, and managing family histories and laboratory workflows.

You will work with clinicians, research staff, and laboratories to ensure efficient, patient-centered services and accurate documentation in medical records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological/health science (preferred genetics focus).
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in Genetics and ability to demonstrate knowledge of genetic terminology and concepts.
  • Preferred: experience as a research coordinator or assistant.
  • Preferred: EPIC electronic medical record experience and customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with genetic counselors to support patient-centered care and efficient workflows.
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, scheduling, and intake calls as needed.
  • Assist with drafting and disseminating post-counseling documentation to patients and clinicians.
  • Input pedigrees and manage family history data in clinical databases.
  • Support laboratory coordination, sample accessioning, and collaboration with laboratories.
