Job summary

Avera Prairie Center-Sioux Falls is looking for a qualified Medical Assistant to join our clinic team in a day shift. The role involves direct patient care, accurate documentation, patient education, and collaboration with providers and front desk staff.

Responsibilities include collecting patient history, vital signs, CLS specimens, and ensuring smooth patient flow. Certification paths (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA) are preferred; a supportive environment is provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Accurate, legible and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Ability to work effectively in a clinical team.

Responsibilities

• Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
• Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
• Maintains timely flow of patients.
• Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests; educates on procedures, medications, nutrition, disease processes and wellness.
• Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
• Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
• Maintains exam room with supplies; performs cleaning and equipment maintenance; handles bio-hazardous waste as required.
• Back-up support for front desk (phone, scheduling, appointments).
