Job summary

Generac is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of emergency power supply systems (EPSS). The role includes on-site repairs, preventive maintenance, and commissioning of industrial equipment.

You will interpret manuals and schematics, report faults, and stay compliant with NFPA and state regulations. Strong communication skills and ability to operate with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid Driver License required.
  • 4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, AC/DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics and connection diagrams.
  • Engine maintenance knowledge; natural gas fuel systems.
  • Ability to obtain Generac certification in air-cooled and protector series courses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair of generators.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during after-hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service and repairs of generators.
  • Read manuals, schematics and work orders to perform maintenance/repairs.
  • Report faulty operations and unusual conditions to service manager.
  • Stay current on NFPA and State regs for EPSS.
  • Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio; communicate findings via calls, emails, or in person.
  • Conduct equipment commissioning for industrial and MPS products.
