National Power is accepting applications for a Generator Service Technician position in North Columbus, OH. Under the general direction of the Telecom Service Manager, this role involves maintenance and repair of generator sets and electrical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair on generators (5-5000kw) and parallel systems, including troubleshooting and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting AC/DC circuits, and commissioning new generators.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel or gaseous engines, including ignition, injection systems, and valves.
- Conduct load bank testing to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes.
- Assist other technicians with complex jobs and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; associate degree preferred.
- Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
- Experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or similar field technician preferred.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and customer interaction.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel and stay overnight as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF.
- Ability to work from home, maintain equipment, and manage inventory.
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially in emergency situations.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
- Work in various weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
- Lift objects up to 75 lbs, work at heights, and in confined spaces.

- Competitive pay based on experience and certifications, with overtime paid at 1.5x.
