Job description

Join to apply for the Generator Technician role at National Power.

National Power is accepting applications for a Generator Service Technician position in North Columbus, OH. Under the general direction of the Telecom Service Manager, this role involves maintenance and repair of generator sets and electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on generators (5-5000kw) and parallel systems, including troubleshooting and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting AC/DC circuits, and commissioning new generators.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel or gaseous engines, including ignition, injection systems, and valves.
• Conduct load bank testing to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes.
• Assist other technicians with complex jobs and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
• Experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or similar field technician preferred.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills for reporting and customer interaction.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel and stay overnight as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF.
• Ability to work from home, maintain equipment, and manage inventory.
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially in emergency situations.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands

• Work in various weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
• Lift objects up to 75 lbs, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
