Job Description: Generator Service Technician
National Power is accepting applications for a Generator Service Technician position in North Columbus, OH. Reporting to the Telecom Service Manager, the technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing generator sets and electrical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on generators (5-5000kw) and parallel systems, including troubleshooting and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting AC/DC circuits, replacing components, and commissioning new generators.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel or gaseous engines, including ignition, injection systems, and valves.
- Conduct load bank testing to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes.
- Assist other technicians with large jobs or complex troubleshooting.
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma required; an associate degree in electrical/mechanical field preferred.
- Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
- Experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or in generator/UPS field service preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and customer interaction.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel and stay overnight as needed.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and PDF software.
- Ability to manage equipment, inventory, and company property responsibly.
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially in emergencies or resource-limited situations.
- Willingness to undergo training, including courses in Milwaukee, WI.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work may be outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical effort includes lifting up to 75 lbs, working in confined spaces, and operating machinery controls.
- Long periods of sitting or standing, with occasional climbing and crawling.

- Competitive pay based on experience and certifications, with overtime at 1.5x pay.

- Must pass a DOT physical.
- This is a remote position requiring work from home, with travel to job sites.
