Job summary

Energy Systems in Bend, OR is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to perform mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic work on Generac EPSS generators. You will travel to customer sites, perform emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, and read schematics to complete service tasks.

The role requires 4 years of EPSS experience, a valid driver license, and the ability to communicate findings with customers and team members.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of servicing and troubleshooting EPSS required.
  • Valid Driver License required.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair of generators.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs after-hours and on weekends as directed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on generators.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform maintenance/repairs.
  • Create reports of work performed in FieldServio and communicate findings.

Job description

Major Responsibilities
  • Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.
  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner.
  • Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.
  • Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.
  • Communicate report findings through but not limited to phone calls, emails and in person communication.
  • Conducting equipment commissioning for the industrial and MPS products.

Work Experience
  • 4 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
  • Working knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.
  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products
  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of transfer switch operations
  • Spark Ignited knowledge
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air‑cooled and protector series courses
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others
  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hours
  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely manner
  • Excellent conflict and resolution skills
  • Able to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworker
