Job summary

Eight Eleven Group is seeking a Generator Service Technician for an onsite role in Herndon, VA. This 6-month contract-to-hire position focuses on diesel generator maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to support data center uptime and safety standards. Travel 80-90% within the designated region, with a rotating 7:00 AM–5:30 PM shift.

You will document service operations, adhere to safety protocols, and provide excellent customer service as the primary on-site technical contact.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in diesel generator maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Strong knowledge of and adherence to company safety rules and accident prevention practices.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to customer requests.
• Willingness and ability to travel 80-90% of the time within an assigned region.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs on diesel generator systems and related engine mechanical failures.
• Adhere to all company safety rules, maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and actively participate in accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
• Serve as the primary customer support contact, responding promptly to customer requests and ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Travel to designated sites to perform professional, high-quality field service repairs in accordance with company standards.
• Communicate regularly with the Generator Service Manager, keeping management informed and utilizing leadership support to address customer questions and issues as needed.
• Document detailed, complete, and legible descriptions of all repair operations performed.
• Accurately record time for all service work performed.
• Travel 80-90% of the time within the assigned region.
• Lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs as required by the job.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including protective glasses, gloves, and footwear.
• Work a rotating shift schedule: 7AM - 5:30PM (Rotating schedule: Mon-Thu and Tue-Fri).

ABOUT THE ROLE
