Job summary

Kirby in Middletown, CT, seeks an experienced field service technician to maintain, diagnose, repair and upgrade power generation equipment at customer locations. You will service diesel engines, generator ends, control systems, and transfer switches, while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of related diesel/engine experience, a valid license, and a willingness to travel to customer sites. MTU/Volvo Penta experience is a plus.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; technical degree is a plus.
Three years related experience with diesel engines, standby generators, and controls.
Clean driving record and valid Driver’s License required.
Experience with mtu or Volvo Penta highly desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, inspections and testing of standby generation equipment, automatic transfer switches, and diesel fire pumps.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines.
Make repair recommendations to customers; identify required parts to complete
Perform repairs on generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines.
Utilize diagnostic tools – multimeter, megohm meter, OEM software
Maintain safety standards and customer service orientation.

Tech I - Tech II: $1000

Responsible for maintenance, diagnostics, repair and upgrades to power generation and industrial equipment at customer locations. Working primarily on diesel and natural gas fired engines, generator ends, control systems, and power transfer switches/circuit breakers.

Sign-On Bonus:

Tech I - Tech II: $1000

Tech III: $2000

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, inspections and testing of standby generation equipment, automatic transfer switches, and diesel fire pumps
Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose problems with generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines
Make repair recommendations to customers; identify required parts to complete
Perform repairs on generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines
Utilize diagnostic tools – multimeter, megohm meter, OEM software
Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures
Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures .

Experience with mtu and Volvo Penta highly desirable. Marine experience a plus.
