Job summary

ACF Industrial Energy is seeking Service Technicians in Jacksonville, FL to perform both shop and field repairs on diesel and gas generators, including ATS, batteries and load banks. A signing bonus may be offered based on skill level and certifications.

Responsibilities include emergency and scheduled maintenance, reading manuals and schematics, using meters and tools, and ensuring safety. Travel to job sites and after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience or training or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Motor Vehicle Record must be in good standing.
  • Experience on Generac, Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, Aksa, Blue Star, Taylor generators is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair of generators.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators during duty hours, after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.
  • Read and interpret manuals, electrical schematics, and job orders to perform maintenance/repairs.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment.
  • Report faulty operations or material to the service manager promptly.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of shop/work areas and company vehicles.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites; overnight travel may be required.

JOB SUMMARY

Service Technicians are responsible for performing both shop and/or field repairs, maintenance service and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators, including automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks.

  • Hired candidates may be eligible for a Signing Bonus based on skill level and certifications.

Service Technicians are responsible for performing both shop and/or field repairs, maintenance service and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators, including automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators
  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly shop work areas, company vehicles, and job site work areas
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites throughout the day. Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required on occasion
Additional Job Functions
  • May perform work requiring the use of welding tools, winch, pulley, hoist and/or pallet jack
  • May be required to tow a trailer, portable generator or load bank using Company vehicle
Experience And Skills

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (including physical and work environment)

  • Working knowledge of power generation systems and its components, including knowledge of the mechanical operation, associated hazards, and proper usage of the equipment
  • Ability to interpret schematics and operational manuals for practical application on repair and maintenance tasks
  • Working knowledge of fundamental mathematical operations
  • Ability to take preventative safety measures to avoid electrical shock, limit exposure to loud noises, and prevent personal injury by using personal protective equipment, including the use of NFPA 70E protective equipment when applicable
  • Skilled usage of mechanical tools utilized to repair and maintain generators and their components
  • Ability to perform duties in non-climate controlled environments such as outdoor weather conditions and non-weather related wet, humid and/or extreme heat conditions
  • Position requires extended periods of standing, extended periods of sitting while driving, as well as bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and the use of hands to finger, grasp, handle and feel often in repetitive motion
  • Ability to handle heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.
  • Requires the ability to speak in a manner that conveys detailed or important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Ability to hear by receiving detailed verbal information or by making distinction in sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Visual sharpness to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment in a safe manner with or without correction.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS (education, Work Experience, Licenses/certifications)
