Job summary

Facilities Maintenance Management, LLC. (FMM) is seeking a Generator Electrical Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair standby power systems for residential and commercial clients nationwide.

This role blends electrical diagnostics with engine oversight to ensure continuous power supply and reliability. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose live faults, and manage emergency restorations while coordinating with project managers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in electrical/gen power trade.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 70E safety standards and lock-out/tag-out rules.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics, blueprints and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical components including alternators, voltage regulators, control panels, circuit breakers, and battery chargers.
  • Analyze wiring schematics, blueprints, and single/three-phase diagrams to locate faults.
  • Service ATS, paralleling switchgear, and control systems near live AC/DC utilities.
  • Program digital controls and link remote surveillance networks to monitoring systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance: oils, coolants, filters, and engine parts inspection.
  • Conduct load-bank testing to evaluate electrical output and engine capability.
  • Diagnose fuel systems on gas and diesel units.
  • Lead system start-ups and commission new assets with OEMs.
  • Explain diagnostics and repair windows to clients and project managers.
  • Maintain vehicle inventory for tools and parts.
