Job summary

Franklin Fitch is partnering with an AI-first startup to hire a senior AI/ML engineer. You will build LLM applications, agents and retrieval systems used by customers day-to-day, turning research into reliable features.

The role is fully remote with a competitive base salary of $190,000 to $240,000 plus equity, open to candidates based in Georgia. You’ll influence product direction from day one and work on high-impact, ambitious AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4 years of software engineering with Python
• Hands-on production experience with LLM applications (RAG, agents, tool use, evals)
• Comfort owning open-ended problems from prototype to launch
• Good judgement about where AI adds value and where it doesn’t

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll build

• LLM applications, agents and retrieval systems used by customers every day
• Production-grade pipelines that turn promising research ideas into reliable features
• Tool-use and orchestration layers that let models do useful work safely

What you’ll own

• Evaluation frameworks and monitoring that surface issues before users do
• The balance between quality, latency and cost across models and architectures
• Prompting, context and retrieval strategy, guided by data

What you’ll influence

• What the product should and shouldn’t do with AI
• Which models, vendors and techniques the company invests in
• Engineering standards and culture in a team that’s still taking shape

Key Skills & Qualifications

Required

• 4 years of software engineering with strong Python
• Hands-on production experience with LLM applications (RAG, agents, tool use, evals)
• Comfort owning open-ended problems from prototype to launch
