Responsibilities

  • Project & Asset Management: manage 2-3 capital projects across generation assets and lifecycle from concept through closeout.
  • Contractor & EPC Management: define scopes, review bids, participate in EPC selection, manage vendors, and provide on-site oversight during installation and commissioning.
  • Operations & Reliability Support: address equipment reliability issues, troubleshoot with operations, maximize plant availability and performance.
  • Business Development & Strategic Initiatives: support new opportunities and evaluate investments within the portfolio.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Asset Manager / Technical Project Manager to support a portfolio of power generation assets, including power plants, wind farms, and solar parks. This role will be responsible for managing capital improvement projects, supporting plant operations, and driving asset reliability across a diverse generation fleet.

The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree and experience managing complex engineering or infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution and asset performance.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Asset Management
  • Manage 2-3 capital projects simultaneously across generation assets.
  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from initial concept and planning through execution, startup, and closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution strategies.
  • Coordinate with plant operations and engineering teams to identify and prioritize asset improvement opportunities.
Contractor & EPC Management
  • Create and define detailed scopes of work for capital projects.
  • Develop, review, and evaluate bid packages and contractor proposals.
  • Participate in EPC selection and contract award processes.
  • Manage EPC contractors and third-party vendors throughout project execution.
  • Provide on-site oversight during installation and commissioning activities.
Operations & Reliability Support
  • Respond to equipment and asset reliability issues as they arise, including turbine failures and other critical equipment breakdowns.
  • Partner with operations teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support day-to-day asset management activities to maximize plant availability and performance.
Business Development & Strategic Initiatives
  • Support new business opportunities and asset growth initiatives.
  • Evaluate potential projects and investment opportunities within the power generation portfolio.
  • Provide technical expertise and project execution insight to support strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience managing industrial, energy, utility, power generation, or heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering firms, and construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of capital project management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting combined cycle/thermal power generation facilities, wind farms, or solar energy assets.
  • Knowledge of plant operations, maintenance, and asset reliability practices.
  • Familiarity with utility or energy industry regulations and standards.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management experience is a plus.
Travel & Field Requirements
  • Hybrid work schedule with 3 days per week onsite
  • Approximately 25% travel within Michigan.
  • Expected to be "boots on the ground" during major installation and commissioning activities, including periodic site assignments of 1-2 weeks to oversee contractors and ensure successful project execution.
