Job summary

Yale New Haven Health in New London CT is seeking a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist to perform comprehensive ultrasound exams across abdomen, OB/GYN, breast, vascular and pediatric areas.

Preferred candidates are graduates of an approved ultrasound program with ARDMS eligibility, knowledge of equipment, and strong patient care skills. Weekend/on-call rotations and on-site responsibilities apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved ultrasound program.
• Must meet ARDMS requirements to apply for abdomen or OB/GYN registry.
• Working knowledge of pertinent equipment, scanning techniques, patient care, and evaluating patient status and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound scans as ordered by physicians.
• Assists radiologist/clinicians during imaging and interventional procedures.
• Competent in all areas of general diagnostic ultrasound tests including small parts, breast, abdominal, OB/GYN, high-risk OB, pediatric abdomen and hips; covers off-hour shifts.
• Willing to assist with vascular exams.
• Aids in inventory of supplies and equipment maintenance.
• Ensures patient well-being and comfort in the ultrasound department.
• Assists in scheduling, transportation and workflow of patients.
• Performs administrative functions including phone duties, coordination with other departments, reports and correspondence.
• Rotates weekend, on-call and holiday coverage with colleagues.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of the department.
• Participates in maintenance planning and safety of equipment.
• Trains co-workers and students.
• Prepares and maintains records including computer entry.
• Meets performance expectations in customer service and teamwork.
