Job description

Responsibilities
  • Receive product from Press, stack, and place on pallets.
  • Understand basic operation of Hugo Beck Bundling System, including set‑up, troubleshoot, webbing, trash knife, roll alignment, tightening or loosening bundles.
  • Pull product from press, stack and place through bundling machines and retrieve bundled product for pallet placement.
  • Print pallet labels with Pecas; locate information on the job bag and set‑up sheet.
  • Ensure correct loading of product through the bundling machine and onto pallets for material handling.
  • Review completed jobs for quality and accuracy; notify operators of any issues.
  • Ensure finished product is of highest quality, accurately printed and free of errors.
  • Pull product samples per company procedures and send to quality auditors as required.
  • Notify operators immediately of any problems or errors.
  • Perform downtime tasks: webbing the press, assist operators when press is down, blow out Hugo Beck, clean press area, mop all areas, walls, tables, cans, tanks, floors behind press and units.
  • Set up and break down doctor blades per procedures and guidelines.
  • Properly remove and dispose of used doctor blades following safety procedures; dispose in containment.
  • Clean backup blade using correct solvents or lacquers.
  • Deliver blade assembly to proper area in Pre‑Make Department.
  • Set up new doctor blades ensuring measurements are correct and blade is positioned correctly.
  • Ensure all product is purged from stacker, tables, and Hugo Beck.
  • Assist in changing impression rollers or stacker.
  • Assist in putting tools in press, changing tab breaker section, tear down, and assembling pump; separate different press sections to cutter.
  • Change cylinders, pump out inks, fill solvent containers.
  • Remove and/or install print unit cassettes.
  • Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for OHSE, personal protection, and hazardous materials/waste handling.
  • Consistently use appropriate PPE while in designated areas.
  • Follow procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous materials/waste.
  • Wear proper uniform according to company policies.
  • Use company‑provided safety lifting equipment (hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc.).
  • Regularly examine work areas to keep safe and neat, including grounding, cleaning ink and solvent containers.
  • Properly store and arrange work area maintaining cleanliness and safety per regulations.
  • Demonstrate ability to keep work area safe and orderly, cleaning press area, mopping floors, emptying rag bins, blade receptacles, and trashcans.
  • (If applicable) Gluer GT: feed product into folder/gluer, pack, palletize; print pallet labels with Pecas.
  • (If applicable) Forklift driver: support press operation via safe material handling; maintain forklift operation per safety; load/unload pallets, waste, record and weigh recyclable material.
  • Maintain bi‑annual certification of lift equipment procedures and operation.
  • Use lift truck to move loads of raw materials, in‑process stock, or finished goods throughout facility.
  • Check load for correct labels and neatness; place loads in designated area of warehouse.
  • Support press by checking schedule board for upcoming jobs and ensuring sufficient materials.
  • Remove waste containers; replace full containers; keep empty container at press.
  • Remove waste and cores from press, weigh and put on trucks for recycling; supply corrugate, pallets, bundler film at delivery end; remove finished loads of product from delivery end.
  • Ensure proper battery installation and replacement per policies; charge batteries outside lift truck.
  • Complete required paperwork such as daily lift truck inspection form.
  • Operate all equipment safely; report accidents, injuries, near misses.
  • Participate as member of press crew to meet production & team goals; interact with operators, coworkers, staff respectfully.
  • Communicate accurate information to team members professionally.
  • Assist or help with work completion, relieving breaks, assisting on other machines, other tasks requested by operators, shift leads, department leads or management.
  • Dependable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform any additional tasks as required by department leads, shift leads, operators or management.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma (or GED) with one to three years related production experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Very good mechanical and physical ability.
  • Lift truck operators must have and maintain safety training for operation of all company equipment.
  • Ability to lift to 60 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, hearing and speaking are required.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate product and equipment safely.
  • Good visual acuity: near, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to rotate shifts as required and available to work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week when necessary.
