The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join the General Surgery service in an inpatient setting at 100 Grand Street, New Britain. The role includes first assisting in the OR, admissions, discharges, rounding, bedside procedures, and surgical consults.

Applicants must hold CT licensure (or be eligible) and have 1 year of surgical experience. The position offers a full-time, 3×13s rotating schedule with no call and strong benefits.

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is hiring a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the General Surgery team, which covers a wide variety of subspecialties. The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions including first assisting in the OR, admissions, discharges, rounding, bedside procedures, and surgery consults. APPs will work in collaboration with several surgeons. The service currently covers General Surgery, Thoracic, Vascular, ENT, Colorectal, Urology, Breast, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology and Plastic Surgery.

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists. xtnlbfm

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
