Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England. The Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center which provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world.
Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut for almost 120 years. Backus is home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and is the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. The Hospital delivers and coordinates a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of its communities.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState are acute-care community teaching hospitals with campuses in New Britain, Southington, and Meriden. While Advance Practice Practitioners and residents work collaboratively, each runs a separate surgical service. With Level III Trauma designation, the referral base of the THOCC has expanded, so has patient volume and acuity.
