Job summary

VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System is seeking a General Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

You will evaluate patients across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and perioperative settings; perform operative procedures; manage perioperative care; and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes for Veterans.

Qualifications

• US citizenship requirement and board eligibility details as per VA policy.
• MD/DO degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US.
• Residency and/or post-training practice with appropriate credentials.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in outpatient, inpatient, emergency and perioperative settings.
• Perform operative and bedside procedures within granted privileges.
• Provide perioperative management and follow-up care.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care with residents, APPs and staff.
• Maintain complete medical records in CPRS/Cerner per VHA policy.
• Participate in surgical call coverage as assigned.
