Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, invites applications for a General Surgeon position within the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. Qualifications

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
• Accredited by LCME or COCA; for foreign graduates, ECFMG eligibility verified.
• Appointment may be approved in exceptional circumstances for high attainment or specialty expertise.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and perioperative settings.
• Perform operative and bedside procedures within granted privileges.
• Provide perioperative management and follow-up care.
• Determine surgical indications and appropriate treatment plans.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care and maintain accurate medical records in CPRS/Cerner.
