It is home to the divisions of Gastrointestinal Surgery/Surgical Oncology, Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Trauma/Acute Care/Critical Care. The Department of Surgery is poised for significant growth as we expand the elective surgical practice throughout the Northeast region. The Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery/Surgical Oncology currently has eleven faculty members with subspecialties of breast surgery, colon and rectal surgery, hepatopancreaticobiliary surgical oncology and minimally invasive surgery.
We are seeking a candidate with broad clinical experience in general surgery with advanced/ fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery or complex GI surgery. The candidate must be MD or DO, Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery with experience in all aspects of the evaluation and treatment including minimally invasive approaches of robotic and laparoscopic surgery. Major responsibilities include building an elective general surgery practice as well as providing education of medical students and residents. Candidate will join a diverse academic general surgery practice inclusive of growing an advanced GI/MIS, endoscopic, robotic, and oncologic program. Salary and academic appointment is negotiable and the benefits are excellent. No trauma calls required but EGS call at a community hospital is required which is split amongst division faculty.
This position will report to the Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Surgical Oncology and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Every faculty member in the department will have a mentoring team assigned to them and participate in the department wide faculty development program.
