Job summary

Software Placement Group in Fresno, CA seeks an experienced General Superintendent to lead field construction operations across earthwork, structures, civil, and transportation scopes on a landmark heavy civil program.

With 15+ years in construction and 10+ years as a Superintendent, you will drive safety, schedule, quality, and subcontractor performance while overseeing complex execution and coordination with owner representatives and agencies.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of construction experience.
• 10+ years as a Superintendent on heavy civil projects.
• Experience leading projects valued at $200M+.
• Superintendent experience on bridges, highways, transit, or large infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. construction methods, means and methods, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of labor relations, subcontract management, local trades, and union environments.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, Procore, or similar construction software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct discipline Superintendents across earthwork, structures, and civil construction operations.
• Ensure all work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with plans and specifications.
• Oversee field planning, scheduling, sequencing, logistics, manpower, and subcontractor coordination.
• Enforce contract requirements, quality standards, and productivity expectations for crews and subcontractors.
• Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and site resources for maximum efficiency.
• Provide technical field leadership including drawing interpretation, means and methods, and equipment recommendations.
• Support project management with schedule development, site logistics plans, procedures, and documentation controls.
• Drive implementation of the Site Specific Safety Plan and maintain strong field safety culture.
• Coordinate daily with owner representatives, inspectors, agencies, and internal leadership teams.
• Resolve field issues quickly to maintain uninterrupted progress.
• Mentor and develop Superintendents, Foremen, and field leadership staff.

Overview

A major heavy civil infrastructure program in California's Central Valley is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field construction operations across earthwork, structures, civil, and transportation scopes. This senior leadership role drives safety, schedule, quality, subcontractor performance, and daily field execution on a large-scale heavy civil project involving grade separations, viaducts, tunnel work, utility relocations, trench sections, roadway improvements, and a major river crossing.

What you'll do

• Lead and direct discipline Superintendents across earthwork, structures, and civil construction operations

Required qualifications

• Strong knowledge of U.S. construction methods, means and methods, and industry standards
• Knowledge of labor relations, subcontract management, local trades, and union environments
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, Procore, or similar construction software
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with City, State, or Federal public agency clients preferred
• OSHA Certification and First Aid certifications preferred
• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Large public works megaprojects
• Rail corridor or transportation infrastructure
• Bridges, structures, grading, roadway, and utility scopes
• California public agency experience
