Job summary

Gioia Concrete Construction, Inc. is seeking a General Superintendent to provide project leadership for field construction activities in Columbus, OH.

You will ensure projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives while coordinating with Project Managers, GCs, and subcontractors. Responsibilities include planning, supervising, mentoring foremen, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and driving preconstruction planning and turnover.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of field supervisory experience on concrete construction projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise activities including construction methods, sequencing, manpower, quantities, equipment, and schedule.
• Review drawings for constructability and turnover/preconstruction planning.
• Own field quality control to meet scope and specifications.
• Train and develop Foremen/Leads through mentoring.
• Communicate site problems, plan conflicts, and quality issues to the Project Manager and GC.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to keep materials, equipment, and inspections on schedule.
• Ensure safety protocols are implemented and site safety plans followed.
• Track labor production and forecast cost and schedule for the Project Manager.
• Perform project close-out and complete punch lists.
• Recruit, schedule, and develop field crews across projects.
• Visit jobsites daily to support foremen and remove obstacles to production.
• Visit sites before crews mobilize to ensure readiness.
• Build and maintain customer relationships with GC superintendents.

General Description:

The General Superintendent is accountable for providing project leadership for field construction activities and personnel. This position ensures that the assigned projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and safetyobjectives. The General Superintendent is also influential in the management of other employees and helps to ensure that the company has the field personnel necessary to meet staffing needs. The General Superintendentparticipatesin business development and estimating activities within their core competency. This role requires flexibility to work varied shifts, long hours (8–12), and occasional weekends as production schedules demand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and supervise all activities, including determining method of construction, sequencing,manpowerlevels, material quantities, equipment, and work schedule
• Participate in project turnover and preconstruction planning, reviewing drawings for constructability before work begins

• Train and develop experienced Foremen/Leads through a solid mentoring system

• Ensure that project safety protocols are implemented and followed, including Site Specific Safety Plans, JSA’s, Daily Activity Planner, andTool BoxTalks
• Track labor production and cost-to-complete against budget, and forecast cost and schedule for the Project Manager
• Perform project close-out and ensure punch list is completedin a timely manner
• Recruit, schedule, and develop field crews across all projects
• Visit jobsites daily to supportforemenand remove obstacles to production
• Visit jobs before crews mobilize to ensure sites are ready for productive work
• Build andmaintainstrong customer relationships through regular check-ins with GC superintendents

Requirements:

• A minimum of (5) years of experience on concrete construction projects in increasingly more responsible field supervisory capacity
• Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling and cost control
• Extensive working knowledge of all types of forming materials for the following: grade beams, walls, columns, elevated decks, flying decks, pan decks, all safety equipment that pertains to elevated structures and fall protection, shoring and re-shoring
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents
• Exemplary leadership and high-level decision-making abilities
• Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
