Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking an AMC General Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with industry standards and departmental policies. You will evaluate requests, select protocols, and provide patient education to ease anxiety during imaging.

The role requires ARDMS AB, BLS, and a graduate ultrasound program with responsibilities including supervision of students and maintaining high imaging quality for accurate diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program.
• ARDMS Abdomen (AB) certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with industry standards and departmental policies.
• Assess requests and determine appropriate protocol and methods for ultrasound imaging.
• Educate patients before, during, and after procedures to reduce anxiety and improve comfort.
• Assist physicians with diagnosis and treatment planning by providing high-quality imaging.
• Prepare sterile trays and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
• Supervise students enrolled in approved ultrasound programs.
• Ensure patient care per department and hospital standards, including safe patient handling.
