Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a General Sonographer to support diagnostic ultrasound services in our imaging department. The role requires clinical judgment, adherence to the Code of Ethics, and compliance with all policies and standards.

You will review orders, prepare patients and equipment, perform exams with appropriate imaging parameters, and communicate findings to physicians. The position also involves educating patients, supervising students as assigned, and maintaining high-quality

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program.
• ARDMS certification.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and orders; determine appropriate ultrasound protocols.
• Assess patients and provide care during procedures according to standards.
• Prepare patients and equipment, maintain sterile technique and supplies.
• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations with appropriate imaging parameters.
• Position, assist, and transport patients safely to imaging devices.
• Educate patients to reduce anxiety and promote cooperation.
• Monitor patient condition during procedures and report findings.
• Enter and report scan results accurately and ensure proper documentation.
• Support quality improvement and supervise students as assigned.
