CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Management, Planning and Construction (FMPC)

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Campus Services Manager

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Student workers

POSITION SUMMARY: With minimal supervision, perform a broad range of tasks and duties associated with delivery operations and various activities supporting the broader campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Through a work order system, as well as direction from others,provide routine internal and external pick-up and delivery tasksincluding but not limited to: furniture, event materials, building support and cleaning supplies, appliances, mechanical equipment, athletic equipment, etc.
  • Operate a box truck along with other vehicles on campusincluding, but not limited to, golf carts, gators, tractors,various trucks, and vans. This also includes lifts designed forfurniture built into the vehicles.
  • Properly utilize the correct dollies, carts, and pallet jacksboth inside and outside.
  • As part of the delivery process,set-up and tear down eventsincluding setting up items such as tables, chairs, stages, risers,pipe and drape, floor covering, etc. This will sometimes includeduring weekend events.
  • Interpret written directions and diagrams for various furnitureset-ups and deliveries.
  • Catalogue and monitor any damage of furniture inventory oncampus, including those for housing and events.
  • Inspect and report vehicle and equipment maintenancerequirements, malfunctions and accidents.Perform minor repairswhen possible and maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment asrequired.
  • Assist other divisions of the department with the moving andstoring of items as requested. This includes our grounds, trashandrecycling, structural and mechanical operations, custodial,etc.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and work guidelinesencountered in the maintenance and operation of institutionalbuildings and built and natural environments. Communicate issues tomanagers or supervisors; actively participate in trainingactivities, seminars and safety meetings.
  • The position is designated as “essential personnel” and isrequired to provide various duties and maintenance services 24hours per day, 7 days per week as required during institutionalclosures, and duties related to emergencies, scheduled andunscheduled events.
QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED, validPennsylvania driver’s license, up to one year of relatedexperience, or a combination of education and experience sufficientto perform the requirements of this position. Knowledge andexperience regarding delivery processes/procedures, event set‑ups,and inventory tracking/upkeep. Ability to perform manual tasksrequiring above average physical strength. Must be able to workfrom ladders, scaffolds, etc., in ditches, freight elevators orother confining spaces, shovel snow and operate snow removalequipment. Possess the ability to work independently, under thedirection of others, follow oral and written instructions, and workwith other staff members as part of a team to create and maintain apositive, productive, safe and efficient work environment.Satisfactory background checks will be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionallyand/or up to 50 pound frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects
  • Required to remain standing or sitting for long periods oftime
  • Regulary required to maintain balance while walking, standing,crouching, or running
  • Routinely required to reach up and out with hands and arms
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally expressinformation or instructions
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp objects, type, pick-upobjects, move objects, or hold objects
  • Routinely required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Regularly required to climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Ocassionally required to lift 50 pounds or more and carry adistanceof 10 feet or more
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and adjustablefocus
  • Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatialrelationships
